INTERACT CLUB ORPHANAGE VISIT 2023

On the 26th of November 2023, seven members from the WMSKL(I) Interact Club participated in a visit to Rumah Permata Hatiku, a children’s home located in Kuala Lumpur as part of a Kindness Day project organised by the ICC Community Service Director. The main objective of this event is to help clean up the living space of the children and bond with the children there.

A total of 30 Interactors from different schools volunteered to participate in this event. The project began with the arrival of the Interactors from 9.00 a.m. to 9.15 a.m. where attendance was taken and donation items were gathered by the entrance of the children’s home. Interactors were then split into different groups to work on various tasks. Some were in charge of cleaning up the housing area while some helped out with the sorting of the donation items. The remaining Interactors were asked to play and bond with the children.

Interactors were greeted warmly by the children who were all relatively young. It took a while for all the children to warm up to the Interactors but soon everyone was playing and spending time together happily. Interactors who were tasked to spend time with the children, read books and played games with them. Few Interactors had also prepared games and activities for the children to play with during the time spent together.

Interactors who were tasked with cleaning helped clean up the outside compound of the area by sweeping up any trash and mopping the front porch of the home. A few Interactors had also helped to clean up the side area of the house. Soon after, all Interactors had gathered together to spend time with the children. By 11.00 a.m., our youth service director, Mr Neeraj had arrived and everyone gathered for another group picture with all the children too.

After that, light refreshments were given out to both the children and Interactors who shared their food with each other. Soon 12.00 p.m. arrived and Interactors began bidding farewell to the children and returned home. Overall, the project was a success and all Interactors had a fulfilling time spent with the children there while giving back to our community.
